Torit Municipal Mayor, Deputy Named The Eastern Equatoria State Governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, has named Stephen Osfaldo Loboli and Marko Lokitoe Lokuta as Torit Municipal Council Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively. 05 October 2013
*By Peter Lokale Nakimangole* *TORIT, 05 October 2013 [Gurtong] –*Torit residents have welcomed the move as both appointees previously served as State Ministers and County Commissioners in the state government. Hon. Lokitoe was former the Kapoeta South County Commissioner after he held a post of Deputy Speaker at the state Legislative Assembly in the former government of Aloisio Emor Ojetuk. Unlike other appointments, the state citizens have praised the governor for taking a bold decision appointing the prominent leaders with long time experience. The Gubernatorial decree No.27/2013, was issued in accordance with Article 53 and Article 64 of the Local Government Act 2009 and considering resolution No. 28/2013 of the State Council of Ministers together with Resolution Number AH 05/2013 of the state Legislative Assembly for upgrading Torit Town into Municipality, and Nimule and Kapoeta into Town Council, is empowered by article 99 (2) (L) of the Transitional constitution of Eastern Equatoria State 2011.
