*JUBA, 07 October 2013 [Gurtong]* - The government said it will only
approve $15.6 million as requested by the Ministry of Roads and Transport
for the completion of the construction of the airport after the contracts
are reviewed.

The resolution came following a presentation by the Minister of Roads and
Transport, Kuong Danhier during a meeting chaired by the President Salva
Kiir Mayardit.

In a statement to the press shortly after the meeting, Hon. Michael Makuei,
the government Spokesperson said the money will only be approved after the
review of the contracts.

“During the presentation it was decided that the Minister of Roads and
Transport and the Minister of Finance, Commerce, Investment and Economic
Planning do review the former contracts that were signed between the
government of South Sudan and the contractors,” Makuei said.

“It’s worth mentioning that this project has been one of the longest
projects that was started since 2005 and up to now it is unable to finish,”
Makuei said.
