*Laying the foundation stone of the Catholic University of South Sudan is
cementing a high hope for the future of the institution and a vision of
South Sudan.*

These were the words of the Catholic Bishops Education Commission Chairman
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala during the laying of the foundation stone of
the Catholic University of South Sudan at Juba Na Bari on Saturday.

He said the Catholic University will continue to contribute to the academic
development of South Sudan and the globe and to achieve many great things.

Bishop Hiiboro called on students to be committed, consistent and work hard
to make the university attractive not only to East Africa but to the world.

Archbishop of Juba Paolino Lukudu Loro, who laid the foundation stone, said
the Catholic Church is serious about education because it is part of its
vocation.

He said the Bishops are committed to care for the Catholic University of
South Sudan.

Archbishop Lukudu called on state and national governments to support the
Church.

National Deputy Minister for Education Bol Makueng paid tribute to the
Catholic Church for opening the first schools in South Sudan as the
liberation foundation of the country.

He said the national government was ready to support the university.

Juba County Commissioner Stephen Wani Michael urged the students to double
their efforts, concentrate on studies and refrain from politics.
