December 10, 2013 (JUBA) – Senior leaders of the South Sudan’s governing
party, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), have announced to
hold a public rally on Saturday, 14 December, on the current internal
affairs in the party.

The event, which will take place at Dr. John Garang’s memorial ground at
2pm, aims to educate the public about the intended process of transforming
the SPLM into a viable, democratic political party.

It will be conducted by the senior party leaders, including the first
deputy chairman, Riek Machar Teny, who on Friday, 6 December, voiced their
concerns about the internal democratic transformational processes in the
SPLM.

"The office of the first deputy chairman has therefore urged the public to
turn up in big numbers at the memorial ground on Saturday, at 2pm, to hear
from the leaders”, partly reads the statement.

Last Friday SPLM leading members opposed to president Kiir policy organised
a press conference denouncing the leadership style of the country’s
president and SPLM leader, Salva Kiir Mayardit, an ultimatum to put things
right or else they will resort to the party constitution and act
accordingly.

Madam Robecca Nyandeng, Pagan Amum and Deng Alors were among other leaders
who appeared besides Riek Machar in the press conference.
