By Abraham Agoth *CAIRO, 10 November 2013 [Gurtong] -* The training organized by the Cairo Regional Centre for Training on Conflict and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA) in collaboration with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) intends to offer unique and more practical courses and skills of reporting in the countries that have experienced or are experiencing conflicts in Africa. The selected countries are those globally known to have experienced or are still experiencing conflicts from either rebels or internal political crises. The Union of Journalists in each country chose the representative for this training. “The training is designed and shaped to equip and build capacity of young journalists who would like to prosper or transform media professionalism as a career so that they help aim high or achieve their dreams in becoming the key peace builders and fundamental icons of public vision,” Ambassador Dr. Mahmoud Farghal, the director of Programmes in CCCPA told the participants during the opening session on Monday. According to Farghal, the training helps to build peaceful relations amongst African countries especially the most violent ones and also promote and impart professionalism in journalists. “We are receiving representatives of each country as members of their Union of Journalists in their respective countries,” Farghal said. “I can say that the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) has extremely done better than the rest of the countries by participating in this special and unique training which we hope can strengthen and improve skills of active young journalists of the World’s newest nation.” The facilitators of the training have been selected from a variety of press fields such as print, online and visual or TV, legal firms and other renowned diplomats in Egypt.
