Four wounded soldiers were taken to Rumbek hospital with gunshot wounds. According to a SPLA military intelligence officer who was at the seen of incident, Lakes state's caretaker Governor, Maj-Gen Matur Chut Dhuol, had ordered the disarmament of all civilians in the area. However, the military source, who did not want to be named, said that the commissioner of Rumbek Central county had not informed them about the disarmament. Since Dhuol was appointed over a year ago many youth activists in Lakes state have been at odds with him over his style of leadership. Under South Sudan's transitional constitution an election should be held within three months, if the incumbent stands down or is removed by the President, as he is allowed to do for matters of national security.
