By Joseph Nashion *YAMBIO, 07 February 2013 [Gurtong] -* Rev. Sr. Jovana Calabria urges families, neighbours, villages, state and the country at large to collectively pray for peace so as to ensure the children of the new nation are brought up in a peaceful environment. She says the adults of this country have suffered the brunt of war for 21 years during the liberation struggle as she urges citizens to leave aside whatever is bringing division and instead try to work together for unity. "A way forward is to unite, love one another, take one belief as South Sudanese not as a tribe and join hands to work for reconciliation of this country," she stresses. "If we want peace; we need to reinforce our commitment in prayers and our life should be based on God looking for his guidance." The Rev. Sister revealed that in her 12 years of service in South Sudan, she has seen a lot of suffering and it still continues. She says the most affected are women and children who suffer from the individual interests of a few struggling for power based on tribal belonging. She urged the leaders to put down their arms and go for peace talks that can restore hope to the South Sudanese, saying it's too early for this country to return to war. Despite the political crisis, she believes there is hope for a bright future for the people of South Sudan. On December 15, 2013 violence broke out in the South Sudan capital Juba and spread to several parts of the country. Thousands of people have been killed and displaced following the crisis.
