New Recruits Urged To Be Brave The County Commissioner of Nzara in Western Equatoria state Hon. Elia Box has urged the new recruits into the national army to be brave and ignore negative comments of the public. 09 February 2014
By Joseph Nashion *YAMBIO, 09 February 2014 [Gurtong] - *This programme was initiated last month by the national government to bolster the defence of the new nation in the wake of a rebellion led by the former vice president Riek Machar. The commissioner visited the over 200 recruits mobilized from the state at the barrack of SPLA division six compound during their training over the weekend. "I want to warn some of you who will go around listening to wrong information. This will mislead you. Remember chance knocks once. So don't miss out due to ignorance," he advised. The commissioner expressed gratitude to the people of Nzara for the effort made to defend their county through joining the national army. "You are our children. Take note, we as a government, are going to support you in all sorts of help together with the community taking into consideration you are going to play a national role. We will render you full support," he said. He donated SSP300, four jericans and three jars to the recruits to start their noble training in order to defend their country against internal and external aggression. Meanwhile, Lt. Col. John Okan, Commander of division six said they have received a significant number of young and ex-combatants but they face a challenge of accommodations as most of them commute from very far off places. He called for support from the people in the county and state to maintain peace and unity, adding once there is peace; every human being will love to stay in the country.
