*JUBA, 22 February 2014 [Gurtong] - *Dr. Wau Agudeng said the communities
should leave behind their differences and try to submit to a peaceful life
under the UN protection.

Agudeng said: "The government and county administration condemns the
senseless clashes that have once again encountered our poor and innocent
citizens who have run to United Nations Mission In South Sudan (UNMISS) for
refuge."

UN Peacekeepers said on Wednesday that about ten people were killed during
the inter-communal fight in the compound which hosts 21, 500 IDPs who fled
the devastating fight in Malakal town.

The Press release by UN peacekeepers said, "They (peacekeepers) fended off
attackers from outside their base while brawls broke out among
refuge-seekers inside."

The commissioner said the clashes were provoked by a group of Nuer
tribesmen who wanted to break out of the UN compound to join their fighters
who were gaining momentum over Malakal battle.

"There are some people inside the compound who are rebel's supporters. They
are the experts of war, directing to their militia, the SPLA spots in the
town and elsewhere," Dr. Agudeng said.

Agudeng said there is a great need to build relations of all the
communities instead of breaking it up in a political difference that has no
connections with ethnicities.

Since mid-December the conflict broke out in Juba, the Capital of South
Sudan which the government blamed on the ex-vice president Dr. Riek Machar
of plotting a "Coup" against President Salva Kiir's Government however, Dr.
Riek said it was a presidential guards'quarrel.

Rebels are controlling 4 counties of Nasir, Ulang, Maiwut and Longechuk out
of the Upper Nile thirteen counties and now battling the SPLA forces over
the state Capital.

The conflict quickly spread to Bor, Bentiu, Malakal and the latest in Tonj
North and East counties of Warrap state.

Humanitarian Organizations reported that over 10, 000 people lost their
lives and more than 700, 000 others displaced and now taking refuge in the
UNMISS Compounds across the country and others fled to neighbouring
countries.
