The Central Bank is earmarked to introduce coins’ currency into
circulation on independence anniversary on July 9, 2015.

National Cabinet Affairs’ Minister Martin Elia Lomurö tells journalists in
Juba that the Council of Ministers on Friday after thorough deliberations
on Finance Minister Deng Athorbei’s and Central Bank Governor Korneilio
Koriom Mayik’s presentation approved the issuance of 50, 20 and ten coins
to address inflation and currency notes’ vulnerability.

He explains that the coins’ minting only awaits revision of the symbolic
logo of Upper Nile region as the cabinet has already endorsed Equatoria and
Bahr El Ghazal regional logos.

Dr Lomurö says the Council of Ministers chaired by President Salva Kiir
Mayardit has adopted recommendations on economic policies and the newly
reviewed taxation law increasing tax base on non-oil revenues to boost the
country’s economy for development.

The Cabinet Affairs’ Minister tells the press that there is ongoing
fighting between Government and SPLM/A in Opposition forces in Panakoch
area of the Upper Nile region and that the cabinet has concluded that there
is a serious emerging rebellion in Western Equatoria State, deserving
attention.

Dr Lomurö says the Opposition forces attacked Government positions on
Friday morning, resulting into military engagements.

CRN could not reach SPLM/A in Opposition for comments on the fighting.
