To: <[email protected]> Cc: Forced relocations in Blue Nile continue - A SKBN flash protection update, for your interest and appropriate action…. Forced relocation of civilians in the Ingessana Mountains in Blue Nile by government agencies to the outskirts of the capital Damazin, continues. Numbers are difficult to verify as the government does notallow access of humanitarian agents in the area. Following fighting between government forces and the SPLA-N, on 24 June, people were forcibly relocated by the government from Musfa and Dereng village (Baw county) to Alashid Afandi IDPs camp in the south-western part of Damazin (former UNMIS compound). It is believed that around 150-250 families arrived in the camp. At least 15 trucks were spotted in the operation. Local actors confirmed that more people were relocated from Naurania and Moreg village in Baw county to Almadina, in Rosaires county, but numbers were not provided. Local informants reported that due to harsh weather conditions, with heavy rains and wind, the situation of the displaced is unacceptable, as people are left without shelter. The CU was unable to confirm figures but can confirm that relocations are happening and in big numbers. An immediate assessment should be carried out in coordination with competent humanitarian agencies (including UN and local NGOs and INGOs), in order to help the people in need, and understand why this is happening. There appears no humanitarian or protection justification for the forced relocation of civilians from their home villages to distant and unprepared camps.
