*RUMBEK, August 2, 2015 [Gurtong] *- An officer from the criminal
investigation department says that the Pagarou Payam Administrator, Gabriel
Makou Mayek was killed by a gunman who refused to return cattle that was
looted.

Last week Lakes State government instructed administrators to identity
looted cows of Rumbek East County so that they are returned to their
rightful owners.

“A person with AK47 entered into the Payam Administrator’s office and
killed the administrator Gabriel Makou Mayek and one person was left with
critical gunshot wound" said a senior police officer, Moses Makeny.

He said that several civilians inside Lakes State are becoming unfriendly
to the State government and refuse to share security information.

"Sincerely till now we have not captured the suspect who killed the Payam
administrator because the public refuse to tell us the person they suspect.
If you ask any person whether they had information they say ask Governor
Matur Chut to tell you who is responsible."

In a separate development routes linking Rumbek town with Counties of
Rumbek North, Cueibet, Rumbek East and Wulu remain closed due to high
insecurity that resulted into unknown gunmen killing people on the roads.
