August 8, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – A Sudanese military official on Saturday said
the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) has recaptured a strategic town from the rebel
Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/North (SPLM-N) in the Blue Nile state.

The commander of the fourth infantry division in the Blue Nile capital of
Damazin,

Osman Sid Ahmed, told *Ashorooq TV* website that his forces on Saturday
have entered Taroda area on the edges of the Ingasana Mountains.

He pointed that SAF seized a number of weaponry and retrieved stolen
cattle, saying the area constitutes an important economic and intelligence
centre because it is close to mining sites in Ingasana Mountains.

SPLM-N officials were not immediately available for comment.

Blue Nile and neighbouring South Kordofan state have been the scene of
violent conflict between the SPLM-N and the Sudanese army since 2011.

The Sudanese government and rebel group failed to reach a cessation of
hostilities agreement after a series of talks brokered by the African Union
High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) in December 2014.

Since, the fighting between the warring parties resumed in South Kordofan
and Blue Nile.
