Akol said we would ensure residents freely move at night without
necessarily worrying about threats of insecurity from wrong elements.

“As my first priority, I will be together with the chiefs of the
residential areas so that I get to know one by one what problems do they
have in their residential areas, what do they want to be done in these
residential areas, this will be my first step toward my work with them,”
said Akol.

“The other planning that I have, I want Wau town to be fully secure in team
of security, I need peace so that everybody sleep in his house in peace,
that is what I want in this area,” he added.

The new mayor, however, appealed to area residents to also contribute
maintaining security, by asking their neighbours to help identify criminals.

Hundreds of people welcomed the town mayor upon his arrival into office at
the Wau town Municipal council premises. He took oath last Saturday.

Currently comprising of 54 residential areas, the town is divided into five
blocks.
