The newly appointed Governor of Wau State, Andrea Mayar, says he has
directed security forces to allow unhindered movement of humanitarian
workers in the area.

On Tuesday, regional and international partners called on the government to
grant UNMISS and international humanitarian agencies unhindered access

and movement in Wau town and the countryside.

They urged the government to aid agencies to provide assistant to those
displaced within and outside Wau.

Governor Mayar said orders have been issued to all the organized forces
during a security meeting held in Wau.

“All the checkpoints have been removed with clear directions from the
security committee to the army not to prevent any citizens from moving,” he
told Eye Radio.

“And any organization has the right during the day and night to help our
citizens; we gave them full freedoms and we announced this through
microphones and letters.”

They regional and international partners of South Sudan also called on the
government to initiate dialogue at the national and state levels to address
the underlying causes of the violence.

According to a statement, the partners expressed deep regret about the
persistent violations of the permanent ceasefire.

Meanwhile, the SPLM- Former Detainees are calling for an urgent cabinet
meeting to be held in Wau town to address the underlying causes of the
conflict.

The FDs urge the President to quickly act in order to restore law and order.

They further call on the Transitional Government of National Unity to
assure security for all citizens in Wau irrespective of their ethnic labels.

This week, the government formed a committee headed by cabinet ministers to
investigate the root cause of the conflict in Wau.

However, the Former Detainees are calling for a separate and independent
commission of enquiry that will investigate and hold accountable those
responsible for the violence in Wau.
