Two UN agencies say South Sudanese continue to leave the country as a result of fighting and insecurity. In a situation report, the UNHCR and the World Food Program say more people are also being displaced internally in different parts of the country. According to the UNHCR, almost 3,000 South Sudanese arrive in Uganda as refugees daily, as of the 28th of last month. It says refugees continue to report insecurity and fighting amongst armed groups, with the greatest number of refugees fleeing Jubek, Yei River and Terekeka states. In the White Nile State of Sudan, the UNHCR says there is a recorded rise in refugees from South Sudan, with 1,500 arriving in the first two weeks of September. Meanwhile, the World Food Program says it is extremely concerned about those displaced from Lainya and affected by the recent insecurity around Yei. It says the environment in these areas remains complex and the displacement patterns and insecurity along major supply corridors remain major challenges to a humanitarian response. The WFP says it is working alongside other humanitarian actors on developing ways to meet the needs of these displaced people in a manner consistent with humanitarian principals. In its latest situation report, the WFP says it is also concerned about the people in Rubkona and Koch counties who were facing emergency levels of food insecurity. The food agency says it is working to ensure assistance can be delivered to the most vulnerable people when the security situation improves. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
