The Governor of Yei River State says the Commissioner of Kangapo County has
been abducted by unknown gunmen.

David Lokonga Moses says Julius Tabule was abducted in Bori payam yesterday
on his way to a funeral service.

He spoke to Eye Radio this afternoon: “In fact, he went for prayers of
funeral, then he ended up in the hands of these unknown gunmen who abducted
him and we don’t know [where he is]. I am still not getting details, but I
am trying to establish contacts from the ground – the local authorities
there on the ground in Kajo-kiji.”

Governor Lokonga didn’t accuse any particular armed groups; but the said
the security units were still gathering information on the whereabouts of
the commissioner.

Meanwhile, the SPLA spokesperson says the army clashed with some armed men
in some parts of Yei River State over the weekend.Brigadier General Lul
Ruai Koang says the two sides fought in Kargulu, Lasu and Umbasi
villages.Brigadier Lul told Eye Radio that the SPLA is still contacting the
commanders from the ground to establish the casualty figures.

He said: “Some armed criminals made an attempt on a number of military hot
spots around Yei, but all those attempts were unsuccessful. We have not
been able to arrest them but we were able to fight them back and we
maintained full control of the places they had attempted to take from us.
I’m talking of Kargulu, Lasu and Umbasi.“These are armed elements that were
trying to cause insecurity, that were trying to disturb public peace. We
are still receiving reports from our field commanders but I can assure you
that the SPLA fought a very good fight, we were able to return very
overwhelming fire and a deadly one, our special forces were involved in
ground attack and they were given very good air support by the SPLA air
force.”

Emanuel Joseph Akile contributed to this report.
