Jonglei authorities limit movement on two major roads

BOR (21 Dec.)

Authorities in Jonglei state have limited movements of vehicles on two
major roads in a bid aimed at reducing incidents at which pedestrians
become victims of ambush attacks by unknown gunmen.

The authorities have imposed a dawn to dusk curfew starting from 6pm-6am
along Juba-Bor Road and Bor-Pibor road following a spate of deadly attacks.

Jonglei State government announced that a curfew has been imposed on
vehicles traveling along these two major roads. This comes after several
incidents occurred over the weekend during which three people were killed
and more than 20 injured after a car traveling to Pibor fell into ambush
near Mongalla.

The Jonglei government, according to the statement, said it decided to take
this security measures after discussion with the government in Juba and
Pibor at which the three level government unanimously agreed that no cars
will be allowed to leave either of the three places after 6pm and any
vehicle en route shall have to spend the night in Mongalla until when the
curfew is reached the following day.
