December 24, 2016 (JUBA) - The former First Vice President and leader
of SPLM-IO, Riek Machar, has called on the International Community and
the African Union to launch a new political process to review the
agreement of 2015 and brushed aside a call for national dialogue by
President Salva Kiir.

In a Christmas Message to South Sudanese extended to Sudan Tribune on
Saturday, Machar said hopes for peace "evaporated" with the 8 July
clashes at the State House and accused the government forces of
"committing acts of genocide" in the country.
However he rejected the call for national dialogue made by President
Kiir on 14 December, describing it as an attempt to divert attention
from the "ongoing genocide aganist the people of South Sudan,
particularly in Greater Equatoria Western Bagr el-Ghazal abd Unity
Stat"
Instead Machar has urged "the (African Union) AU and the international
community to support a new political process to end the war and stop
the genocide from intensifying".
"The priority should be to end the war and that can only be achieved
through a political process where by the Agreement can be reviewed,"
he said, adding "The revived agreement would provide the roadmap for a
national dialogue to be conducted in a stable peaceful environment".
The 14 December call for a national dialogue has been criticized by
opposition leaders who questioned its seriousness and viability.
Lam Akol, chairman of the National Democratic Movement for Inclusive
Dialogue, called to hold a new inclusive political process outside
South Sudan that will provide a forum for all to thrash out the root
causes of the conflict and agree on the future of the country.
The South Sudanese President Kiir on 20 December appointed 30 national
figures as members of a dialogue committee that he chairs.
In addition, Kiir appointed as his advisers Abel Alier-wal Kwai,
Joseph Lagu, Bona Malual Madut and Francis Mading Deng.
But the dialogue body does not include representatives of the SPLM-IO
or sympathizers to the former first vice-president.
The "National dialogue in my view is both a forum and process through
which the people of South Sudan can gather to redefine the basis of
their unity as it relates to nationhood, and sense of belonging," said
President Kiir when he announced his process on 14 December.

Dialogue is one of the implementation modalities for the
agreement. One shld wonder why kiir, Taban and JCE shld be talking
about what they called national dialogue. The reconciliation is a
forum or process in which the parties to reconcile have to admit
wrongdoings and ask for forgiveness. President started it by saying
"for give me if I committed any crime..." if I committed... that is
bulshit!

Why Reik Machar is wasting his time now? The guy with one eye
and other eye will follow soon should first take care of his health.
His health issues alone are enough for him to make keep him quiet, let
alone being in exile. Most of his leaders of SPLM?IO left him and
joined Juba, why? because they see no future with Reik anymore.
Talking from South Africa is very interesting to see. Peace, peace

Dr Reik is holed up in Soth Africa by Americans and IGAD
but interestingly killings especially of vulnerable civilians tripled.
Why is it that there are even more deaths happening now than before
and Riek is NOT in the country?

The call fo reviewing the agreement does not have a link to the
health Dr Riek call for international community to act and bridge the
vacum in the peace agreement. Our people are heavily suffering and can
not wait. Absence of Riek has created a damage to the progress in
peace agreement. While you are, majority don’t know what will the next
day be for them. Shut up your ignorance!!!

I don’t know how many negotiations need to satisfy Riek. The
agreement is always good when it brings Riek back to position. From my
own observations this dialogue will be so neutral and brings lasting
peace, and defines S.Sudan we want’s road map. No more renegotiation
of ACRSS.

You people need to stop blaming Presidnt Kiir or blaming Reik, at
least president Kiir apologized to the people and Reik didn’t
apologize people yet. only one thing I would like to let you know if
the people of the land are not together it will be heart for you to
take out any president who is running country wrong way. I would like
you to see the country name (Burma) documentary or history.

It’s now called Myanmar; the name Burma is now obsolete......
The Junta hardliners who were in charge of the country bowed down to
American pressure for reforms and now Myanmar is prospering. The same
will happen to South Sudan....
