Ceasefire monitors visit Kajo-keji County

A team from the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring
Mechanism (CTSAMM) has visited Kajo-keji County to assess the security
situation there on Monday, a local official said.

CTSAMM is part of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC)
which is overseeing implementation of the signed peace deal in South Sudan.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Luka Beneya David, Kajo-keji County
Commissioner, the ceasefire monitors' two-day visit aims at assessing the
security situation and acquaint themselves with other challenges related to
security in an attempt to restore peace in the area.

“Yes, they were here since 16th and on the 17th of this month. We had a
meeting with them, and we made schedules for their visit to the different
new counties of greater Kajo-Keji County,” said Luka.

“They went to Liwola and met with local representatives who are the chiefs,
elders, women, youth and church leaders. They also visited another area for
displaced people called Logo, and they came back,” he added.The local
official claimed that the security situation in his county was relatively
peaceful.
