South Sudan becomes 58th member of ICDO JUBA (24 Jan.) South Sudan has formally joined the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) to become its 58th member, the interior ministry said. The mandate of ICDO is to promote and coordinate civil protection at the international level. Speaking during a press conference in Juba on Tuesday evening, Michael Chiangjiek Mut, National Minister of Interior, announced that South Sudan became a member of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO), saying it is very important to join such international organizations. The official pointed out that South Sudan’s membership will allow it to benefit from civil protection and training programs on leadership.“For us to join the ICDO is very important because as a country, we are going to benefit a lot from that organization. First, our officers will get training, we will have access to the other members, we will be able to get support from the ICDO if we meet the requirement needed for that support,” said Chiangjiek. He pointed out that South Sudan’s Ambassador to Geneva managed to represent the country by attending meetings on South Sudan’s request to join the organization.“Fortunately, on 9 January, we were accepted and now we became the 58th member of the ICDO,” he said. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
