Dozens of IDPs from Panyijiar arrive in Bor PoC

BOR (6 Feb.)

Nearly 50 internally displaced persons mostly women and children from
Panyijiar County in Southern Liech State have arrived in the UN Protection
of Civilians Site (PoC) in Bor town in search for security and food, a camp
manager said.

VThok Chol, who is in charge of the UN PoC in Bor town, told Radio Tamazuj
yesterday the women and children who arrived in the camp on Sunday were
experiencing bad humanitarian conditions in Panyijiar. He pointed out that
the new arrivals boarded a boat from Panyijiar County to the UN camp in Bor
in search of food and security. He said yesterday. “They came from Bentiu
today, they have arrived today, they were boarding a boat, until now those
who have arrived here are 50, most of them are children and women,” said
Chol.

The camp leader noted that some of them are still living in the open near
the riverside, saying the new arrivals pointed out that they wanted to join
their relatives who entered the UN camp in Bor town after the outbreak of
civil war.“They are saying that the situation there is not good, and they
came to Bor to join their relatives who came here earlier and others are in
Juba,” he said.

Chol called upon humanitarian organizations to provide food and other
services to the new arrivals as soon as possible.
