SPLA confirms Thomas Cirillo’s resignation, accuses him of massive
corruption

JUBA (14 Feb.)

The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) has confirmed the resignation of
Lieutenant General Thomas Cirillo Swaka from his position as the deputy
chief of general staff for logistics, according to a press release seen by
Radio Tamazuj.

Brig. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, spokesman of the SPLA army, said that Thomas
Cirillo did not follow military chain of command to tender his
resignation.Lul claimed that Cirillo’s resignation was due to massive
corruption which includes diversion and disappearances of hug consignments
of military food rations and equipment in the directorate of Logistics
which was being headed by Swaka.

The SPLA army also accused Swaka of misappropriation of fuel and
lubricants. The spokesman announced the arrest of 51 officers suspected of
what he described as corrupt practices in last December.

“Findings of the Investigation Committee conducted indicated that Lt. Gen.
Thomas Cirilo was personally and deeply involved in numerous malpractices
in his capacity as the Deputy Chief of General Staff for Logistics,” partly
reads the press release.

The resignation letter aimed at avoiding accountability and momentarily
escapes justice, according to the press release.
