Journalists Encouraged To Persevere Despite Harsh Working Environment The Union of Journalists of South Sudan, UJOSS, has urged Journalists to continue demonstrating perseverance despite unfriendly working environment in the country.
18 February 2017 By Peter Lokale Nakimangole JUBA, 18 February [Gurtong] – The UJOSS' Chairperson, Mr. Oliver Modi Philip made the remarks on Friday at Juba Regency Hotel while closing a 3-Day training workshop on digital security, safety and protection against any harm directed to them as journalists. He notes that the working environment for journalists in South Sudan remains unfriendly but maintains that it should not scare journalists, from executing their duties, roles and responsibilities.“You the journalists should not withdraw your service. Don't get discouraged, never drop out of journalism. I want to encourage you to remain committed. I know clearly your challenges which impede your work. You are not alone but every citizen is being troubled by economic, social and political problems. But mind you that God has a purpose and programme for you and me. It is up to you!" Advising the journalists to remain organized at all times, the UJOSS' Chair said journalists needs collective efforts to attaining their goal, one of those being achieving an informed society.He strongly registered a special thanks to the Open Society for East Africa, OSEA, for its financial support to his organisation (UJOSS).
