Heavy shooting causes fear among citizens in Raja town

RAJA (7 Mar.)

Citizens in Raja town in South Sudan’s Lol state said the sounds of light
guns and heavy artilleries were heard near military barracks on Monday
morning.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, several local residents said, the
sound of heavy gunfire created fear among citizens and many fled their
homes.

A resident, who preferred anonymity said yesterday: “This morning, we heard
a sound of gunshots in the town but we didn’t know what was happening. The
sound was coming from the military barracks and they were pointing it
towards the base of the opposition.”

Radio Tamazuj was unable to reach local authorities in Raja town to comment
on the matter.
