Kiir appoints new head of South Sudan police

JUBA (9 Mar.)

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday night issued a
decree removing the nation’s inspector general of police Gen. Makur Marol
Aduot and appointing Gen. Saeed Chawul Lom as the new head of police
service.

Chawul, who was appointed by a presidential decree broadcast on the
state-owned media, had served as commissioner of police in the newly
created Jubek State. Kiir's decree did not cite any reason for the removal
of Makur who was appointed in January last year.
