Students from Juba PoCs finally sit for secondary leaving examinations

JUBA (10 Mar.)

More than 900 students, who could not sit for secondary leaving
examinations on Monday in Juba’s UN Protection of Civilian sites (PoCs),
were able to receive the exams outside the UN compound on Wednesday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the Northern Liech Minister of
Information, Lam Tungwar said the students who left the camp were allowed
to sit for the exams.“Today, I managed to assess a number of 910 students
who came outside the PoCs and sat for their examination at Buluk Primary
School,” he said.

Tungwar further said the students who did not sit Monday and Tuesday
examinations will be allowed to sit those exams. However, he did not
mention when. The state official added that this year’s exams could not take
place at the PoCs because the government was trying to secure the centres
from cheating.A total of 967 students in the Juba PoCs were registered for
the final exams this year.

On Tuesday, about 300 students decided to come out of the UN camp
voluntarily in order to take their exams outside the PoCs after the
National Ministry of Education refused to use previous examination centres
in the UN camp this year.
