East Africa urges South Sudan to speed up visa-free entry policy

Radio BakhitaFriday, March 17, 2017 - 16:11

The East African Community or EAC urges South Sudan government to speed up
efforts to reduce or eliminate visa fees for its citizens’ free movement in
the region.

Free travel would boost trade and investment Ambassador Liberat Mfumukeko
Secretary-General of EAC says while concluding two-day visit to South
Sudan, Radio Bakhita reports.

He says the move will also allow South Sudan benefit from the Electronic
Passport that to be introduced this year.

Secretary General of South Sudan EAC Secretariat, Mou Mou Athian, says the
visit yielded positive outcome and that all pledges would materialize.

South Sudan joined the East African Community last year. It became the
sixth member of the bloc, but it is yet to implement some instruments
including free travel.
