Yambio women empowered to support peace initiatives

YAMBIO (24 Mar.)

South Sudan’s Women Association in Gbudwe State has formed a committee to
help restore peaceful coexistence among the different communities in the
state.

Yambio County Commissioner Grace Apolo said after a three-day conference
supported by EVE organization, a committee comprising of parliamentarians,
civil society activists and religious leaders was established to ensure
peaceful coexistence in the state.

The county commissioner said 30 women attended the conference in Yambio
town on Tuesday. She further called on the warring parties to stop fighting
and address the suffering of the civil population.

EVE organization for women development is a local non-governmental
organization that aims to empower women to participate in decision making
processes and transform women into agents of peace.
