Human Right Watch urges Jordan to arrest or deny entry to President Bashir KHARTOUM (27 Mar.) Human Rights Watch urged Jordan on Sunday to deny entry to Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir or arrest him over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Darfur region if he visits on Wednesday. Reportedly, President Bashir has been invited to attend a summit of the Arab League in Jordan on Wednesday."Jordan would be defying its international obligations as an ICC member if it allows al-Bashir to visit without arresting him," said Elise Keppler, associate international justice director of the New York-based HRW. President Bashir has two arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court in 2009 and 2010 over alleged crimes against humanity in Darfur. In 2015, South Africa declined to arrest the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir when he attended an African Union summit there. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
