Families displaced as government troops attack Amadi village

MUNDRI (26 Mar.)

Nearly 3,000 local residents of Goji village which is located some 28
kilometers away from Mundri town in South Sudan’s Amadi State fled to the
bush after government troops attacked the village on Friday, eyewitnesses
said.

The eyewitnesses told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that a group of SPLA soldiers
attacked the village, forcing the locals to flee to the bush for safely,
amid deteriorating humanitarian conditions.“Everybody is now in the bush
and there is no water for them specially children, and our food and houses
have been burned to ashes, so we don’t know what to do,” a displaced
villager said.

The villagers claim that the government force accused them of spying for
the armed opposition group in the area. They also alleged that the
government troops were still pursuing them in the bush. The
conflict-displaced families urged the government to stop its soldiers from
targeting civilians.Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach government officials in
Amadi to comment on the incident.
