South Sudan rebels release three foreign oil engineers

UPPER NILE (31 Mar.)

South Sudanese rebels loyal to former First Vice President, Riek Machar
said on Thursday they had released three oil engineers from India and
Pakistan that their forces had captured recently.

The three were released on the orders of rebel leader Riek Machar. Indians
Midhun Ganesh and Edward Ambrose and Pakistani Ayaz Hussein Jamali, were
captured at the Adar oilfields in Upper Nile earlier this month.“The
aforementioned three oil workers, who were captured from the Adar
oilfields, are hereby released, “partly reads Machar’s release order
addressed to the SPLM-IO committee for energy in Khartoum.

“Contact the embassies of Republic of India and Pakistan in Khartoum to
inform them accordingly of the release of the oil workers and to brief them
on the position of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) on peace in South Sudan.”The three
men were transported to the Sudanese capital, Khartoum on Thursday in a
special plane from Ethiopia.
