Aweil governor asks UNMISS to renovate Wau-Aweil road

AWEIL (31 Mar.)

The Governor of South Sudan’s Awiel State, Ronald Ruay Deng, has asked the
head of the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), David Shearer,
to support the renovation of the Wau-Aweil road.

The governor made the appeal during his recently meeting with Shearer who
had visited Aweil town, where he acquainted himself with the humanitarian
situation. “We met with the UN chief and his delegation and we appealed to
them to maintain the road from Wau to Awiel, because it is the main road
that brings for us food, and humanitarian aid. We also discussed issues of
development on how we can partner,” said Ronald in a statement to Radio
Tamazuj.p
He further said they also discussed how the UN could help provide food for
the hungry in the state as well as development projects.
