Three people killed in separate incidents in Wau town WAU (3 Apr.) At least three civilians including a teacher were killed and three others wounded in separate incidents in Wau town over the weekend, a local official said. The Mayor of Wau town, Mel Aleu Goc, told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that rebel forces allied to former First Vice President Riek Machar attacked Masna area, located seven kilometres southeast of Wau town on Saturday.He pointed out that the attack resulted in the killing of two civilians and the wounding of three others. “This area is inhabited by innocent civilians and yesterday [Saturday] rebels attacked the area and as a result, two civilians were killed and three others injured,” he said. However, the municipal official claimed that the security situation returned to normal.Radio Tamazuj could not reach rebel officials in the area to comment on Aleu’s allegations. Separately, local residents said a teacher was found dead on Friday in Wau town, while accusing an SPLA soldier of killing the teacher.But Wau mayor denied any involvement of the government soldier in the incident.
