April 13, 2017 (JUBA) – South Sudan’s Vice President James Wani Igga
has issued a statement calling for the release of all political
detainees. He also warned that the country would collapse if no
immediate action was taken.

South Sudan’s vice-president, James Wani Igga, speaks at a press
conference in the capital, Juba, on 28 December 2013 (AP)
“If we allow South Sudan to collapse in our hands, we the leaders of
today without exception being undersecretary or director, it means you
are a leader in that particular government institution,” said the Vice
President.
Vice President Igga, an ally of President Salva Kiir in the Equatoria
region is also a high ranking member of the Sudan People’s Liberation
Movement (SPLM), controlling majority members in the cabinet, the
army, judiciary and the national legislature in areas under the SPLM.
While speaking at a public lecture at the Ministry of Parliamentary
Affairs in Juba on Wednesday, the Vice President warned that the
ongoing war in the country was tearing it into pieces, stressing that
the leaders would be held accountable if the country collapsed.
He also admitted that the 2015 peace agreement signed between the
armed and non-opposition group was now standing on “one leg.”
“No, we cannot allow our country to be destroyed in this way. We
really have to do something, especially the leaders of today. There is
a need for a general amnesty and release of all detained civilians,”
said Vice President Igga.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to hold the national
dialogue without saying when the process would commence and whether
they had resolved whether the armed opposition would be allowed to
participate without any preconditions.
“We should be committed as members and leaders of this government, and
transparency is needed in the country,” he added.
Igga is the first high-ranking official to publicly admit that the
peace agreement was facing challenges and to call for the release of
those who have been detained by the government on grounds that linked
them to the armed opposition, under the leadership of the exiled
former Vice President, Riek Machar.

Great approach Mr. Wani, I hope that this statement didn’t just
just pop out of your mouth. We would as normal citizens give you a
hands of applause, if this was a negotiated settlement from within
your leadership. Otherwise, I will remained looking forward to hear
from the two bosses, Taban and Kiir. I hope you folks will make
happen!

Igga, you are a great leader and the only patriot among your
comrades. You always relinquish your position in the country for sake
of peace. Now, we have only two options: we let the country collapse
and it will happen in less than five months and we start planning post
regime arrangements or we call inclusive dialogue. Either way, we got
less days left.Taban should get out. He has no IO with him

Bol Malual,
So you are now coming to the realisation that Taban Deng
is Taban without any SPLA-IO with him? The nameless arrangement
between Kiir and Taban is not ARCISS; it is just a come together to
hoodwink gullible and ignoarant South Sudanese. Kiir was forced to
sign the ARCISS; he didn’t like it at all! Wake up!

Bol,
If he is, then Kiir must imitate him on this. You should
not fool people by this foolish praise.

I can help with tough political problems but this
economic thing is complex to find a solution to. simply because
economic need free people to keep it afloat. our people are in camps
and pocs. even sound economic policies will not work at this time of
turmoils.

Kush Natives,
The sooner Kiir and Taban leave the limelight, the better for
South Sudan. Kiir was opposed to the ARCISS; he signed the agreement
begrudgingly, Taban is siezed the opportunity created by Kiir in July
2016 to claim SPLA-IO leadership; but SPLA-IO is really in the bush
with it’s supreme leader Dr. Machar "parked"in South Africa, just to
borrow Taban’s words.

Resign to show your seriousness!! may be after resignation your
boss will follow your bravura stand. You fail South Sudan. Your
future, Kiir future and that of your children is bright, I am talking
wealth so better go now than waiting for the worse to happen. Run
while you can and this declaration is a good start.

When Igga and Kiir Al Awiir collapse that shall be when they
may declare the collapse of the country because they do not see the
country from the perspective of the people but throught themselves.
We, the NAS have already held them accountable for everything that
have gone wrong since 2005 to date under failed gov’t, and it is a
matter of time we, the NAS will bring them to book.

Ita wahid awir sakid, belai asukut ma sunun taki ze korek del.
where were you when civilians were being killed, raped and burned in
their huts, ya maharas ita. Know that, you are part and parcel of the
suffering imposed on the Equatorians, what good are you to us, apart
from being a Jienge tool that Kiir uses to tickle his own ass, as he
pleases.
Join the people or shut your mouth.

Ya comrade SPLM/A akuma bitana! It is too late to acknowledged
that the country is collapsing and the leaders are to be blamed for
the mishandling of the country’s political and economic strategic
plans. The peace you guys are preaching is already dead and not yet
buried. You & Kiir have to think twice, or else 3 of you has to be
buried a long with peace.

Eyez,
I dont understand VP Wani. He should not call for the release
of these political detaines, he just has to ORDER their release
period. Who else is above him? He should hit the table and tell the
Kiirminal, look either you release thesep people or I quit, period.
The Kiirminal will shake and do it, that simple. He should NOT fear a
jienge at all.

Wani Igga is a comedian and a big fool. He and his master Kiir are
those in charge. He should just sit down with Kiir and take decision
rather than lamenting in public lecture.
A big fool.

their court. What they say carry more weight than the heaviest
material that there is.Act and take action and press the button.Do not
let your people suffer peace is what we need and not want there is no
place for war as war is destructive. When there is peace everyone is
happy how poor they may be.Deliver peace and reconcile.

of what his master is doing. He is trying to beg your forgiveness,by
saying so,as if he is not part of that gov’ment.Anyway,he must shade
the crocodile tiers on the fallen milk cup.He should be in passion to
grape the cup before it falls.fake VIP.

The VP James Wani Igga is really a very important and high
ranking in the SPLM as well as in the government but it surprised me
why he wants to point his fingures and he is part of this same
government that he wants to blame his colleagues.
Will releasing of detainees help in bringing peace?
Why don’t you call for quick trial of those detainees instead
of releasing perhaps the commit crimes?

Lino,
James Igga is in the government just to hoodwink the
gullible and ignorant Equatorians that they are also represented in
the government. Wani Igga is just redundant!!!
It is noble to oppose from within; if he moved out and
opposed from outside, you will be among the first people to lebel him
a rebel!

spla/splm and all their co-horts are bunches of robbers who does
not have SS at heart. War or armed affairs can never bring development
to our country. Those responsible for selling arms to SS robbers both
the government and rebels will never be forgiven by almighty God
because they have contributed greatly to the mass killing in our
country.

even a good president will fail if the system he/she is
sitting on is teemed with interest groups.it is better to talk rather
than keeping quiet to play it safe. issue of power allocation, lack of
transparency, intimidation and cold blood murders. these ill need to

of the detainees"? while the power is at your hand or your being there
in the presidency is just a symbol without exercising orders ? Another
one can calls for,but u as a member of presidency, u would just said
that I released the detainees without begging Kiirdit to hear your
calls.act as a man with his own words not as a fake v p
