Nearly 4,500 displaced people in Likuangule County in Boma State are in
dire need of humanitarian assistance to due to shortages of food and other
services after an attack by suspected youth from the Lou Nuer tribe in
greater Akobo area last week, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the spokesman for Boma state’s crisis
management committee, Moses Tamburum said at least 36 people were killed
and 30 children abducted by the attackers.

The official pointed out that the Lou Nuer youth raided over 9000 heads of
cattle after the attack.“We are calling upon the UN agencies from Juba and
everywhere to quickly deliver urgent aid assistance to the displaced people
who are living in the headquarters of Likuangule County,”said Tamburum.

He claimed that nearly 4,500 people were displaced from Ngunchaak and
Kongor villages. “I went to the villages and managed to verify from those
wounded Murle people and they said the attackers were Lou Nuer youth mixed
with SPLA-IO soldiers because the whole area is under IO control,” he said.

Radio Tamazuj could not immediately reach Lou Nuer authorities for comment.
