Kiir removes interim SPLM chairpersons in 12 states, appoints new lawmakers

(Radio Tamazuj) South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued republican decrees appointing and relieving some government and party officials from their positions. In a presidential decree number 74/2017, Kiir appointed Elijah Liech Bany as the new deputy governor of Latjor State. In another decree, he appointed members to fill the vacant positions of SPLM party in the national parliament. The newly appointed lawmakers include Angelo Dieu Ngor,Nyayen Yat Riek, Jaffer John Perry, Andrea Mayer Felo, Stephen Jimmy Lemi, George Lotabu, Ichi Likayi Baliwaji, Medina Akok and Aluong Jorbam. Kiir, who doubles as chairman of the SPLM party, relieved former state governors as SPLM interim state chairpersons from 12 states and appointed the incumbent governors.
