The leadership of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), the governing
party of South Sudan, on Tuesday dissolved all parliamentary committees set
up by the parliamentary speaker Anthony Lino Makana.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday after a meeting of the SPLM caucus
chaired by President Kiir, Atem Garang, chief whip of the SPLM
parliamentary caucus, said the issue has been resolve after the SPLM
parliamentary caucus protested against the recent appointments of
parliamentary committees’ chairpersons and their deputies. He pointed out
that the party leadership decided to increase the number of parliamentary
committees from 18 to 25 in order to accommodate all political parties in
line with the signed peace agreement.“The current chairpersons of the
committees are abolished and then new names for the chairpersons of the
committees from all the caucuses of the states will be submitted to the
chief whip,” said Garang.

He noted that the new decision will be implemented next week so the
national parliament can resume its normal work.
