Two civil society activists who were arrested in Bor own after staging
protests against the government-led peace initiative between Jonglei and
Boma states last week, have escaped from the state police prison on Sunday.

Deng Ayang and Geu Akou escaped after staying in jail for four days without
trial.Speaking to the Radio Tamazuj on Monday, one of the activists who
participated in the peaceful protests, confirmed that his colleagues had
escaped from jail.“I was informed by my colleagues that they have escaped
from the police illegally and police authorities are still looking for us,”
he said.

Last week, local youth in Bor town demonstrated outside the venue of the
meeting between First Vice President’s delegation and state officials while
chanting anti-peace slogans.
