Ronald Ruay Deng, former governor of Aweil state, welcomed dismissal from
his position by President Kiir, saying it was time for another person to
serve in the state government.

Ruay was dismissed on Tuesday night after holding the position since
December 2015. No reasons were cited for the change.“I thank President
Salva Kiir Mayardit for the trust for one year and a half. It was time
given to youths to see how youths can govern, it was a lifetime
experience,” said Ronald in an interview with Radio Tamazuj today.

Ronald, who is a staunch supporter of Gen. Paul Mong, denied rumours that
President Kiir plans to remove all supporters of former army chief Paul
Malong in Northern Bahr al Ghazal.“Our constitution has given all powers to
the president, so he has the right to remove anybody, if there is any
decree, people should not discuss, it is a prerogative of the president and
I thank him,” he said.

The former official pointed out that he managed to maintain security and
build some development projects in the state. “I also managed to mobilize
NGOs, now there are many organizations that are operating in Aweil here,
and they are encouraging our people to cultivate,” he said.

Ronald promised to cooperate with his successor Yournew Wol Kuot, saying
the new governor will make change in the state. “I am sure he will come and
start from where I have stopped,” he said.
