South Sudan judges said their nationwide strike is still active and vowed
not to relent on their demand for the resignation of Chief Justice Chan
Reech Madut and wages increments.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, chairperson of the South Sudanese
judges’ committee, Khalid Mohammed Abdullah said they are still continuing
with their strike across the country.

In statement released on 21 April, the judges call for better working
conditions, increased salaries and the reinstatement of leave benefits. The
assembly of judges also demanded the removal of Chief Justice from his
position.

Chief Justice is appointed by President Kiir and it remains unclear if he
will issue a decision to find solutions to the ongoing strike.
