Peace Rally Held In Wau

Residents of Hai Lokoloko and Kalvario in Wau town turned out in large
numbers today at Nala playground for a public peace rally that they
themselves organized.

The rally aims at informing all residents who deserted their homes
following insecurity in Wau town to return to their homes as the town is
now safe following the deployment of the national security forces.

The peace rally was attended by the State Governor, Andrea Mayar Acho,
South Sudan National Minister for Youth and Sports, Nadia Arop and all
State cabinet ministers, advisors and security heads in the State.

“Nala play ground was last year very bad. It was used by the armed uniform
men for raping young girls and women, many of our young boys lost their
live here while going to UN protection,” said Catharin Atanasio, a resident
of Medan Nala.“The deployment of the National security protection forces in
this area has given a chance to our young girls to go to school free, it
has also improved the security situation and that is why people have now
started returning to their homes,” she added.

Meanwhile the Governor while addressing the public appealed to
Commissioners to hold talks with opposition forces in the State and
convince them to return home. “Am appealing to Commissioners and Chiefs of
Kpale, Bagari and Bessilia that the way is free for you. I will tell my
security committee to give you free movement. The road going to Bessilia to
beopened. Anybody who wants to go to the garden should, the road going to
Bagari and the road going to Bushere up to Kpale to be opened so that our
people go talk to our boys. Let them come to any place that they want to
assemble. Am ready to go to them,” said Acho.

The Governor confirmed that he has alreaday welcomed more than 160 rebel
forces in the State and expects to receive more.He also said that he is
ready and willing to travel and speak to any opposition force for the sake
of peace in the State.
