10 soldiers, 4 civilians killed in Juba-Nimule road attack

At least fourteen people, including a senior SPLA officer, were killed and
nine others injured in the attack on a convoy on the Nimule-Juba road
yesterday, the police spokesperson has said.

Brigadier Daniel Justin Boulo told Eye Radio that the convoy was traveling
to Juba from Nimule when the 30 cars came under attack by a group of armed
men.

Brigadier Justin said the armed group targeted the military escort.He said
ten of those killed were SPLA soldiers and the rest were civilians, adding
that a senior army officer and a mother and her child were among the dead.

“The convoy of vehicles heading from Nimule to Juba fell into an ambush
because they were targeting the escort where by some people got killed, and
they were fourteen in number, four civilians and ten soldiers and nine got
injured,” Brig. Justin said.

Brigadier Justin said the wounded were taken to Juba teaching hospital and
some to Nimule Hospital for treatment.He said the assailants are being
pursued by the security forces.
