Ministry of Petroleum invites companies to invest in oil sector

Radio BakhitaSaturday, June 10, 2017 - 16:32

The Minster of Petroleum says the government has invited more foreign oil
companies to invest in South Sudan.

As Radio Bakhita reports, Ezikiel Lol Gatkouth says the government seeks
to increase oil production by opening up new blocks. He says they are in
talks with several oil companies that have expressed interest in South
Sudan’s oil sector.

South Sudan depends only on oil revenue, but production has been affected
by the civil war and the fall in global oil prices.

Oil production has reduced from over 300 thousand barrels, to less than 130
thousand barrels per day after December 2013 violence.
