June 26, 2017 (JUBA) – A South Sudanese woman says she fears that her
life is in danger after the national security service assigned to the
First Vice President Taban Deng Gai, beat her up without intervention.

Tinna Aring Madut Ring said she was dragged out of her car on Sunday
and was beaten up with in front of a large crowd of onlookers and
under the watch of First Vice President Gai.

It was not clear what she did to provoke the behaviour of the guards.

On Monday, sources told Sudan Tribune that the victim was in the car
with her mother with the light on when they were stopped at gunpoint
after approaching the guards’ station point, with the lights still on.

“I was not at the scene but the report I received indicates that this
unfortunate incident occurred because of an altercation between the
guards and the occupants of the car, including the one who was
driving, the lady called Aring Madut,” said a presidential source when
reached on Monday.

The presidential aide claimed the lady and other occupants including
her mother refused to put off the light from the car when they were
stopped, infuriating the guards which sparked the altercation.

“When will these individuals be disciplined? In the name of NS, people
disappear and I will say that I am afraid for my own life because
speaking up as a citizen for being mistreated is a problem but I am
not going to stop until all is corrected. Living in fear in your own
country is not right,” wrote Aring on a Facebook page, where she
posted a picture of her swollen face.

The office of the First Vice President did not make any formal
statement commenting on the circumstances of what transpired and why
the guards beat up the traveller.

Light on Hmmnn!! is not a crime and it safer when drive, I know
the fools think light is on for presidency vehicles, other V.I.P. it
suppose to be role of traffic polices if motorists break the rule it
not job for NSS. if done something wrong, then the law should take it
course, not physical assault. unless SS is lawless country, wrong guys
on wrong job, harassing civilians is sickening.

Our reactions to this incident should be cautious. If we don’t
respect our leaders too and flash flood light onto them or not giving
them the right of passage when rushing to their offices timely, or
park our own vehicles inappropriately on the roadside.etc could be
disrespect. What was Aring doing with flood light of the vehicle
during broad day light? I would suggest for proper investigation fir

True patriotism/nationalism calls up on citizens to respect their
national symbols including national leaders. Observe Americans whom
you all take for role models of freedom, they have zealous love and
pay undivided allegiance to their country and will never reveal USA
weaknesses or mistakes with any dudes in anywhere in the world even
American journalists when never broadcast anything negative.

        Lenin Bull,

Your leaders in Juba are good for nothing folks. Did you just
say your leaders are rushing to their offices. What are they doing in
those high offices really? Your kind is the reason the country is
being run aground because you think those with outright sense of
entitlement are really leaders....!!!!

about America. Our misconceived current ideas seem to let us think
that some mysterious beings somewhere will come to punish the current
leaders we have in South Sudan. NO. We must know that it is we
ourselves the citizens of South Sudan who will punish them for their
misbehavior and disrespect to us by not electing them during
elections. Aringo should not vote for Taban in coming elections.

Not only that but whoever thinks that President Salva Kiir, Riek
Machar, James Wani, etc has wronged him/her unjustly should not vote
for that politician. Let us stop the war and push for elections folks.
War will make them get away with it. Voting is smart war but not UN,
USA, UNMISS, RPF, etc. GOD heal Aring sooner.
