Western Lakes Government Releases UNMISS Staff Arrested Last Month The government of Western Lakes State has released two UNMISS official who were arrested in June for allegedly gathering false reports against the government.
05 July 2017 By Mabor Riak MagokRUMBEK, 05 July 2017 [Gurtong] - Major General Matur Chut Dhuol in an Interview with Gurtong said the government has released the two after numerous follow ups by the UNMISS head of field office, Mr. Kwame.“Despite their wrong doing, we have freed and released Mr. Mangar Chol and Mawut Gabriel due to the tireless follow up of UNMISS head of field office, Mr. Kwame “said Major General, Matur Chut Dhuol. “All the documented investigations concerning negative reports which they have gathered against the government are with us and will be distributed everywhere” said Major General, Matur Chut Dhuol. Matur Chut Dhuol threaten and warned of further arrest should UNMISS staff continue reporting negative reports against the government. The two UNMISS officials were arrested last month in June after reporting of military intervention in burning more than 40 civilian houses and community farms destroyed including looting of food items and animals in 3 villages of Ror, Akor, Pankunyuk and Ler-acitheh.
