The Former Political Detainees (FDs), who also describe themselves as SPLM
leaders group, said there is no more peace agreement to implement in the
capital Juba.

The former detainees are a group of high level SPLM leaders who were
arrested and released at the start of the South Sudan Civil War in December
2013 before going into exile in neighbouring countries.

The group’s spokesman Kosti Manibe Ngai told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that
the 2015 peace agreement signed in Addis Ababa has shown more signs of
fractures.“The agreement signed in Addis Ababa in 2015 is not working. It
is severely fractured, and it has failed to bring peace. It has actually
collapsed,” he said.

He pointed out that their faction demands a new comprehensive peace deal
that will be supported by all the people of South Sudan for the sake peace
and stability. However, the leading opposition member pointed out that they
are still maintaining their positions in the unity government in Juba. “At
the movement we are in government but when we are withdrawing from the
government we will tell the reason and the time,” he said.

But information minister spokesman Michael Makuei Lueth said the unity
government rejects any proposals to renegotiate the 2015 peace accord.“Our
position is clear. We don’t want to renegotiate the signed peace agreement,
so any party calling for renegotiation of the agreement we are not for it.
The national dialogue was initiated to complement the implementation of the
peace agreement,” he said.
