The reunification meeting of the SPLM factions which was expected to take
place today in Kampala, Uganda, has been postponed.

Last week, a team comprising representatives of SPLM in the government and
SPLM under the leadership of the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai,
traveled to Kampala to continue talks over the reunification of the party.

The factions – SPLM in Juba, the IO under FVP Taban Deng, and the Former
Political Detainees – first met last month in Kampala, but the meeting was
adjourned due to the absence of members from Dr. Riek Machar’s faction.

Lam Both, the Information Secretary of SPLM, says Ugandan President Yoweri
Museveni put off the meeting due to the absence of the faction of the
former first vice President, Dr. Riek Machar.“The group of Riek did not
show up. They did not communicate,” said Mr. Both told Eye Radio Monday. So
far, we were not informed about any new date for the meeting but we know
that it will happen properly after finishing consultations.”

The ruling party witnessed split after the outbreak of violence in Juba in
2013.The meeting is intended to help the factions come up with a roadmap
for implementing the January 2015 Arusha deal on the reunification of the
party.
