President Salva Kiir has declared a 3-month state of emergency in four areas in the Bahr el Ghazal region. The states are Wau, Gogrial, Aweil East states, and some parts of Tonj. State of emergency is a situation of national danger or disaster in which a government suspends normal constitutional procedures in order to regain control. It is not clear why the president made the move; however, the areas have been witnessing communal violence lately. This is the second state of emergency the president has declared. In 2014, Kiir declared a state of emergency in the former Jonglei and Unity States. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
