IGAD foreign ministers meet in Juba to revitalize peace agreement

Foreign Ministers of the Inter- Governmental Authority on Development
(IGAD) arrived in Juba on Sunday to hold the 58th Extra-Ordinary Session
Monday morning to review the progress made and revitalize the peace process
in the country.

The foreign ministers said in a statement  that they met consult and held a
meeting with various stakeholders including representatives of the
international community, faith-based organizations, eminent persons, youth
and women, the civil society and the private sector prior to their
deliberations.

The ministers were also expected to pay a courtesy call on the President
Salva Kiir Mayardit before finalizing their business.The delegation led by
Workneh Gebeyehu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic
Republic of Ethiopia, was scheduled to be briefed on the current situation
in South Sudan by Festus Mogae, Chairman of the Joint Monitoring and
Evaluation Commission (JMEC), Deng Alor Kuol, South Sudan’s Minister for
Foreign Affairs and Ismail Wais, IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan.

The council of ministers is in Juba to deliberate the peace process in
South Sudan and the planned High Level Revitalization Forum, as well as the
2017 IGAD Secretariat Budget.
